I am Omar Peck, Candidate for Friendswood City Council Mayor. Please allow me to take a few minutes of your time to discuss my background and let you know my thoughts about Friendswood, “Our Hometown”.
Prior to entering the private business sector I was Honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp. I spent 46 years in the design, engineering and construction industry and retired after 40 years with the same company rising to the position of Group Vice President.
My lovely wife and I have been married going on 47 years and we have a great family all living here in Friendswood. We were blessed with three great children, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and four precious grandchildren. We are all members of First Baptist Church Friendswood where I serve on the Build Team, lead a small group of Jr. High boys, lead a Men’s Life Group, provide security for VBS and am a Greeter at Sunday Worship.
In 2014 I was elected President of the Board of Directors for the Creekwood Estates HOA. During my time as President I have been successful in facilitating the establishment of a harmonious relationship between the various home builders involved in the final build out of the subdivision and the current residents. This required a lot of listening, mediating and advising to come to mutual agreed to resolution.
We have been residents of Texas going on twenty years and prior to my retirement we made a long overdue, life-changing decision to move back to Friendswood where we once lived in 1973. You might ask, “Why would you relocate at this point in your life?” The answer was simple for us: core values and family. We believe in the core values of our town and we wanted to be with our children and grandchildren and enjoy what our community has to offer with respect to God, Family and Country.
Now that you know a little about me, let me discuss what my thoughts are about serving on the City Council.
First and foremost, I want to be your voice on the Council. No one has all the right answers and it is important that any elected official listen to his or her constituents and gain an understanding of their wants and needs.
Second, I want to be a good steward of your tax dollars. Spending money wisely on services that benefit all, not just special interests.
Third, I want to preserve Friendswood’s Hometown atmosphere, a place where we talk openly about our faith, we love our families, we strive to support our schools, we pay tribute to our Country and those who have defended our way of life, where we know our neighbors and know that we can depend on each other.
As your Mayor I will serve you with integrity, commitment, servant leadership and faithfulness. I hope I can count on your vote, as I am committed to do what is best for all and will serve in a manner which will honor your decision to trust me to faithfully steward the future of Friendswood.
Thank you and God Bless.
