Lessons Learned from Harvey
In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Omar worked for several days to help demo four flooded homes, emptying furniture and belongings, ripping sheetrock down to the studs. Some were friends and family, and some were strangers. Harvey gave us the blessing of erasing the term “stranger” from our vocabulary. We all became friends and neighbors.
Following this, Omar worked for 45 consecutive days to lead operations for the Disaster Relief Center at 209 S. Friendswood Drive. He worked with a phenomenal, selfless team of cheerful volunteers. His experiences there strengthened his love for our community and his resolve to help Make Friendswood Stronger.
Stay tuned as Omar shares more lessons learned from Harvey in the coming weeks.
